JACK MITCHELL, Chef/Proprietor
Jack has been working as a Chef for over ten years with stints at several high-profile restaurants including The Buckeye Roadhouse in Mill Valley, and with Bradley Ogden at both the Lark Creek Inn and Yankee Pier in Larkspur. He has nearly 20 years of experience at all levels of the industry and brings a wealth of creative talent, business savvy and enthusiasm to Sassafras Jack has been a featured guest on national television and radio and has been interviewed by the SF Chronicle, Condé Nast Traveler and Food Arts.

MICHAEL HIRSCHBERG, Founder
For Michael, it was love at first sight when he discovered Sonoma County. Since arriving there in 1974, he has made his mark on the local restaurant industry through his creation of several establishments in Santa Rosa, including Mandala Café, Restaurant Matisse, Ristorante Siena, Mezzaluna Bakery, and Mistral Restaurant. In addition to caring for his own businesses, Michael has also found time to teach a number of food and wine pairing classes at Santa Rosa Junior College as well as serve as President of the local restaurant association as well as on the board of the Sonoma County Convention and Visitors Bureau. His philosophy for creating a successful business? "Hire the best people and allow them to do their best work."
